Primary Pursuit

Read as much as you can. Learn as many things as you can. It will help you widen your perspective. Creativity, often, is the result of drawing inspiration from widely different fields.

But remember to not spread yourself too thin in pursuing many things. Have a primary pursuit (be that writing, dancing, singing, painting, or podcasting), and spend the majority of your focus on getting better at it.

You can use the knowledge and experiences gathered from doing different things to get better at your primary pursuit. But don’t let these different activities slow the development of your primary pursuit.
