“This lockdown has been hard for us,” read the Whatsapp message on his phone.
“Too hard. It’s been months since I’ve seen you,” he replied quickly.
“Who knew we would be living like this? Who knew we would have to be hundreds of miles apart?” came the reply.
“No one. No one saw this coming. But still, I hate myself now for deciding to come here even though you were asking me to stay for a little while longer.”
“It’s okay. That’s not your fault. Don’t be too hard on yourself. You had your work commitments. I understand.”
“I feel scared. I don’t know when will I get to see you again or if I ever will.”
“Don’t say stuff like that. We’ll be together again. You just take care. I miss you.”
“I miss you too, Maa.”
