Perfection

Don’t let the fear of perfection stop you. If you are a writer, painter, cartoonist, dancer, musician, or any creator, you might have found yourself struggling with this perfection bug.

“But man, this paragraph isn’t fitting well here.”

“The face in this painting is looking a little odd.”

“I didn’t sing this line perfectly.”

“But this stray line is spoiling the whole comic.”

“I couldn’t synchronize the dance steps in this line.”

We often let such trivial reasons stop us from sharing our work with the world. Ironically enough, the fear of creating something perfect often stops us from creating anything at all.

I understand how invested you are in your work, but don’t let perfection get in the way of production. You have managed to create something out of scratch and thus, putting it out there for everyone to see is more important than your little pet peeve about a perfect line, a perfect sketch, or a perfect move.
